My roots in the Gulf Islands go back to 1979,
when I moved to Galiano Island as a permanent resident, and then
to Mayne Island in 1986. I joined Gulfport Realty in 2006 as a
sales representative.
Prior to taking up real estate, I worked for many
years in the general insurance industry, achieving CAIB (Canadian
Accredited Insurance Broker) status, practiced as a notary public
for British Columbia for seven years, and was an elected representative
of the Islands Trust local government for six years. I worked
at all three of these occupations on Mayne Island, which gave
me a good grounding in many areas related to real estate transactions.
As well, I was the first woman in B.C. to be granted the designation
"Registered Onsite Wastewater Practitioner, Designer and
Installer", for septic disposal systems. My husband and I
have operated a local excavation and trucking firm since 1987.
He has family roots here going back to the 1880's and is a wonderful
resource for local knowledge and ground conditions.
